- The SRC serves as the home for the SIUC Distinguished Alumni Wall and annual induction ceremony.
- Recent awards for full-time and student RSS staff include:
- Herman Williams, Assistant Director for Intramural Sports, was recognized by The NIRSA People of Color and received the Distinguished Leadership Award in April 2007 and the future award will be named the Herman Williams Emerging Recreational Sports Leaders Founders Outstanding Service Award in his honor.

- The Recreational Sports and Services programs and facilities are operated by and provide employment and developmental opportunities for over 300 student employees annually
- The Recreational Sports and Services programs and services are most diverse including 46 different student sport clubs, 30 Intramural Sports individual and dual events, 20 Instructional Programs, Youth, International, Adaptive and Inclusive Recreation (AIR), Aquatics, Fitness Assessments, Personal Training, Group Exercise, Martial Arts, Combatives, CPR, First Aid, and Sports Medicine
- The Student Recreation Center is a total recreational wellness facility with features unique to the surrounding area.
- 2 indoor walking/jogging tracks (one with 3 lanes; one with 6 lanes) hosting Missouri Valley indoor track events
- A 50-meter Olympic size swimming pool hosting Missouri Valley swim meets, high school, community, and Masters meets, while adapting to serve swim lessons, aqua aerobics, lap, and recreational swim.

- The Student Recreation Center, as the main recreational facility, serves over 700,000 users annually.
- The Recreational Sports and Services satellite facilities include 18 strategically located indoor and outdoor venues including the Campus Lake, Beach and Boat Dock, and walking trails.
- The 200,000 sq. ft. plus Student Recreation Center hosts diverse and collaborative programs serving RSO’s, community agencies, academics, athletics, while maintaining its main function of being the main indoor recreational venue for student recreation and wellness.
- The RSS facilities and programs annually generates nearly $1 million of non-student fee revenue.
- Flags representing each SIUC student’s home country hang in the main gymnasium as a source of pride and reminder of SIUC’s commitment to diversity and global education.
- The Student Recreation Center is completely wireless providing students with internet connections with computer stations available throughout the facilities.
