Quality of Student Life
During the fall semester 2008, several members of the Student Affairs Leadership team met to develop the Quality of Student Life report. Commissioned by Vice Chancellor Larry Dietz, this report was forwarded to Chancellor Goldman as a way of communicating the mission, vision and theoretical foundation for the division of Student Affairs.
Student Affairs Vision: Empowering students to succeed: every one, every time
Student Affairs Mission: As educators, the Division of Student Affairs actively partners with the campus community to provide transformational, holistic programs and services that challenge and empower students to learn, serve, and succeed.
Student Affairs Values: Wellness, Integrity, Learning, Innovation, Diversity, Service.
Theoretical Foundation: We have aligned our mission and values with several psychosocial developmental models, and recent thinking in higher education, including:
- Chickering’s seven vectors of college student development (1969)
- Learning Reconsidered 2 (2006)
- Pittman and Cahill’s youth development model (1992)
- World Health Organization’s dimensions of health
